Anyone have any better ideas than drying in a bowl of rice for a wet cell phone?
Mine got put through the washing machine and I really really can't afford another one.

i used a combo of the bowl of rice (with phone in a ziploc bag in the rice) and put the phone in the sun to dry it out that way. my phone came back! i couldnt afford another one either, good luck.

I've never personally had that happen, but Josh has done that more times than I can count. He takes out the battery and blow dries it and that works.

Everything I'm reading says specifically NOT to ever blow-dry it, but the rice isn't working, so I guess I might as well.

I'm just saying what he's had success with. That boy does everything he's not supposed to, but it somehow ends up working for him. Maybe the moral to take away from that is to throw out instruction manuals *shrugs* or forever be a teenager.

Don't even think about turning it on for a few days and if you can yank the battery, do so. Keep it in a warm, non humid area, preferably with a lot of ventilation.

I yanked the battery right away.

The phone was in a bowl of rice overnight and is currently sandwiched between two big silica packets so hopefully that will help. I peeked at it and I can tell it *IS* dryer than last night, so I hope this works.

That's really about all I can suggest right now. Basically don't power it on for a few days but if it's been through a wash then you might want to prepare for the worst.
